Scottish Smallpipes and Border pipes

The Celtic Arts Foundation has great relationships with all of our instructors, several of whom are directly involved in bagpipe, drum, or reed manufacturing.  This page is dedicated to Scottish smallpipe and Border pipe resources and manufacturer information.  If you have content to share, or resources to suggestion, please contact Skye Richendrfer at the Celtic Arts Foundation.

We're also planning on expanding our Winter School offerings in the Smallpipe/Border pipe area, starting in 2011.  The first change will be the addition of a second instructor - due to be announced in July of 2010.  We'll also be listing some resources here for smallpipe players, starting with:

  • Lowland & Border Pipers' Society is a webpage containing loads of information and resources for smallpipe and border pipe players.  You may also wish to join the LBPS - many benefits and events - all explained on the page.
  • The Pipers' Gathering held annually in August in Vermont, USA, is billed as "North America's most comprehensive alternative bagpipe event."  With a focus on bagpipes other than the Great Highland Bagpipe, such as Scottish Smallpipes, Border pipes, Northumbrian smallpipes, Uilleann (Irish) pipes, as well as flutes & whistles.  This page offeres a lot of information beyond the details related to the August gathering.
