About Winter School 2016 – it’s backwards?!?
Due to scheduling complications with Benaroya Hall where we hold the MSA concert, we’re swapping Winter school Sessions to make things work best with available accommodations at Seabeck. Unfortunately, because of this, we are not able to offer the very popular “extended session” for Highland Pipes in 2016 – but look forward to that option coming back in 2017 and beyond.
Top-flight instruction and small class size are the hallmarks of our Winter School programs. For over a decade, we’ve been offering fiddlers, pipers and drummers from around our region, and beyond, the opportunity to improve their musical skills. We do this by presenting the finest bagpipers, Scottish drummers and fiddlers in the world for our concerts and instructional seminars.
Registration forms: Winter School 2016 registration forms will be updated and available by September 1st. CAF will begin accepting registrations on September 1, 2015. We are in the process of updating our registration forms process, going to a streamlined (we hope) web-based registration system, replacing our Adobe PDF-based system. We’ll keep you posted on progress there. When available, please use the navigational bar at left and click on the “Registration” link to pull up and download the forms for 2016 Winter School.
Winter School, Session 1: For Great Highland Bagpipers and side, tenor and bass drummers. Hone your band skills and meet folks from bands across the country! Monday February 8, 2016 – Friday, February 12, 2016, Seabeck Conference Center, Seabeck, WA. Five-day session as well as 2-day drumming workshop option. We are also trying to expand the Tenor and Bass drum program, so if we get enough students, we will hold five-day sessions for Tenor and Bass Drums. Let your friends know!
The instructors boast multiple world championships in solo and band competitions among their number – you’ll benefit from small class sizes and the top instruction. This is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends, practice lots and be immersed in Scottish music for several days. It’s an ideal learning environment and a lot of fun!
Winter School, Session 2:Fiddlers and Scottish Smallpipes. Playing Scottish music together for pub sessions, “ceilidhs” and simply for enjoyment! Saturday, February 13, 2016 – Wednesday, February 17, 2016. Seabeck Conference Center, Seabeck, WA. Weekend and five-day sessions available.
Due to the generosity of many donors, the Celtic Arts Foundation has been able to offer several scholarships to Winter School over the past couple of years. Scholarship applications are now available on our website here.
Registration deadline for Winter School 2016 is December 31, 2015. All registrations must be received by CAF by that date.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
