Have you ever wanted to learn the Bagpipes? This fall the Celtic Arts Foundation is offering a beginner’s course in Bagpiping. No prior musical experience is required, just a willingness to learn and have fun! This ancient Scottish instrument evokes an incomparable emotional response among listeners and performers alike. In terms of traditional instruments, the Great Highland Bagpipe might stand alone due the duality that exists between the instrument itself and the music the instrument produces. The functionality of the instrument can seem mysterious and complex, yet the sound produced by the bagpipe is almost instantly recognizable. In this course you will experience first-hand the power and sonority of the instrument while gaining a fundamental understanding of this enigmatic Scottish art form.
4:30-5:30pm - Kids and teens ages 9 and up
6:00-7:00pm – Adults
7:15-8:15pm - Adults
In this course you will:
Tuition includes the 8 classes, a ceilidh at the end of the series, a National Piping Centre tutor book for students to keep, and the use of a practice chanter while they are in class (and take home during the series). Many thanks to the National Piping Centre in Glasgow for providing a supply of tutor books for this course.
