Ken Perlman Concert
Wednesday, September 13th, 2017

Superb instrumentalist, acclaimed teacher of instrumental skills, gifted performer, award-winning folklorist, Ken Perlman a pioneer of the 5-string banjo style known as “melodic clawhammer” and a master of fingerstyle guitar. He is considered one of the top clawhammer players in the world, known in particular for his skillful adaptations of Celtic tunes to the style.

Join us for this workshop and learn more about the resources that exist in our community and beyond for researching Celtic heritage, including understanding different website subscriptions, DNA testing, local research options, and more!

Autumn Smallpipes & Fiddle Workshop

For pipers, join us for an exciting workshop to learn more about smallpipes, reelpipes and whistle with none other than Fred Morrison!  This year we’re also pleased to welcome back our friend Iain MacHarg from Vermont who will be joining us as a second Smallpipe/reelpipe instructor. For fiddlers, we’re pleased to present a one-day workshop on Saturday, September 30th with Scottish fiddler Brandon Vance.  Take in a four-hour workshop with Brandon from 10:00-3:00, and then finish up the workshop with some tunes with the Smallpipe/Reelpipe players at the LCC.

Tannahill Weavers Concert

The Tannahill Weavers are one of Scotland’s premier traditional bands. Their diverse repertoire spans the centuries with fire-driven instrumentals, topical songs, and original ballads and lullabies. Their music demonstrates to old and young alike the rich and varied musical heritage of the Celtic people.

Each year, we bring some of the world’s most accomplished Celtic musicians from Scotland, Ireland, Canada, and the US to teach aspiring musicians. This highly anticipated program draws students from across the country and is suitable for all skill levels and ages. It is a unique opportunity for Celtic musicians to learn from some of the greats!
